Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a manual therapy that focuses on total body health by treating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework, which includes the joints, muscles and spine.

The goal as an osteopath is to create an environment in which the patient’s recovery can be optimized. This is achieved through a variety of osteopathic techniques such as, structural manipulation, mobilization and soft tissue work, as well as addressing any lifestyle and environmental factors that may be contributing to their problem.

Osteopaths believe that the body's function is a result of its structure, and that when the structure is impaired its function deteriorates and causes impaired movement and consequently pain.

By restoring normal structure and movement, including nerve function and blood-flow, osteopaths aim to restore the body's ability to heal and restore itself to its maximum potential.

Here is a list of just some of the conditions osteopathy can help with:

  • Back/neck pain
  • Trapped nerves
  • Sports injuries
  • Shoulder problems
  • Tension headaches
  • Arthritic pain
  • Hip, knee and foot injuries
  • Stress related tension
  • Tennis elbow
  • Rheumatic pain

Sports Massage

Sports massage helps maintain the entire body and keeps it in better physical condition in order to stay active and injury free.

Whether you have a specific injury or not, a sports massage enables you to perform better for a longer period of time, as well as lowering the stress levels placed upon your body.

Although sports massage is aimed at people who regularly push their bodies through strenuous exercise, it can benefit other people too. If you're running around with small children all the time, or you have a physically demanding job, a regular sports massage may help you.

Through sports massage we can:

  • remove general aches and pains
  • improve muscle tone
  • promote relaxation
  • improve flexibility
  • stimulate circulation
  • produce therapeutic effects on all body systems

Medical Acupuncture/Dry Needling

Dry Needling involves the insertion of a thin filament needle to stimulate the healing process of soft tissues (muscle "trigger points", fascia, tendons and ligaments, etc) resulting in pain relief and restoration of healthy physiology.

This technique is unequalled in finding and eliminating neuromuscular dysfunction that leads to pain and functional deficits. Medical acupuncture can help a variety of musculoskeletal problems including:

  • acute/chronic injuries
  • tension headaches
  • neck/back pain
  • muscle strains
  • fibromyalgia
  • overuse injuries
